Are Technological Advances the Answer to Safety Risks on Construction Sites?

There are a million and one reasons that a construction lender wants every construction site they loan money on to be as safe as possible. First and foremost, you want to ensure that no one is injured. Second, you want to ensure that the work is completed on time and as needed. While safety rules and regulations have become more strict over the years, we are finally seeing the day when technology may be catching up.

At Fund Control we may be in the business of offering fund control solutions, but we are also always keep a keen eye out for anything that can help our clients. Following are some of the most innovative safety features we’ve seen coming from technology companies.

Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality Are Being Used for Safety Training

It’s one thing for a worker to read about safety procedures in a book, it’s another to actually experience what it’s like to be in a situation. This is what VR and augmented reality can help. Workers can get exposure to working at very high heights, or in confined spaces. These simulators have been used for training pilots, surgeons, and soldiers, and are starting to be used on construction sites too.

On the other hand, augmented technology can improve safety in another way. It can allow for management to create a more detailed safety plan, to provide training on heavy equipment with real equipment but augmented hazards, and in many other ways.

Workers Can Wear Technology That Makes Them Safer

Construction workers should already be wearing hard hats, gloves, work boots, safety vests, etc. These can now be outfitted with biometrics and sensors, including voltage detectors, location trackers, and even WIFI. The wearables can then tell the worker and / or their supervisor if the worker is in danger.

There is even clothing that can monitor a worker’s rate of respiration, heart rate, and skin temperature. They can monitor the posture and movements of workers to determine if they are fatigued or intoxicated.

We Provide a Different Type of Safety

At Fund Control we provide a unique construction software that helps to mitigate risk in another way. In many cases, workers are injured because of a lack of communication. With so many people involved in a single jobsite, it may be understandable that not everyone is always up to date on the latest safety codes.

We provide a fund control software that offers much more. It can provide a single place for all communication, which allows everyone involved to stay on track any changes – including safety changes. If you want to learn more about how it can help you, reach out to Fund Control at 800-625-5972 today.
